Denis A. Yanashot was born an identical twin in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education and two Master’s degrees in Education. While in college and many years afterward he specialized in traditional painting along with air painting utilizing the airbrush and industrial techniques with various spray applications.

Yanashot is now engaged in sculpture. He specializes in stone carving and sculptural mixed media techniques. He creates mixed media assemblage sculpture and relief sculpture using a variety of materials that include found objects. He combines various types of stone that include marble and sandstone. Along with stone he may use anthracite coal, culm, slate, culm ash, bone, antiques, glass, river detritus, obsolete mechanisms and many diverse found objects. He will also use contemporary materials such as acrylic rod and epoxy resins in combination with these varied materials to create his sculpture. His intent is to use all of these materials in various combinations and sculptural arrangements to give them a new life or reincarnation as an art form.

Yanashot has exhibited in solo exhibitions and won awards for his work in many regional, national and international exhibitions and has work in permanent museum and private collections.
